The incident I described took place five years ago. An article written at the time (Ottawa Citizen Smears Progressive Activists) describes the context; it is referenced at the bottom of my Canadian Charger article. We protested these smears as vigorously as we could at the time, and the government in fact backed off, letting their action stand as a warning. My friend did not suffer further harassment regarding status. John

It’s great news that Canadian Charger has formally retracted its editorial asking the Harper government to place the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood on their ubiquitous “anti-terrorism list”!

Thank (the Christian) God for the widespread protests that succeeded in this.

But what is most alarming is the harassment you and Suzanne have been subjected to.. What “major media” exactly was it that attacked you for having taken part in the conference? We need to mobilize a protest against those media as well.. What on earth was the public warning you received and who was it from?.

We need a defence committee to gather the evidence and publicize a protest especially since the Middle Eastern immigrant was threatened with not receiving her(?) citizenship for associating with YOU! (She should immediately have qualified for citizenship for that action, of course.)

Especially since in Egypt itself the Armed forces have had to back down on outlawing the Brotherhood.

Please keep me (and the rest of us) informed.
